- with world notes interposed - Paradigm:![]() The Year is currently (as of March 2000 play time) 1880; the setting, the planet Earth, a somewhat cinematic in style Earth. The world is the result of several other campaigns that have (and will again) affected this Earth's history in odd ways... A Earth that has had a tone at times of a John Woo film or a Republic Western or a LaCarre spy novel. [Or for those with Wierdness Magnet - a Hammer Studios film] Some characters form certain telvision programs and films are considered "real" even if later films may have "distorted events or characters for dramatic purposes." [id est in the future Clint Eastwood the actor will make a western with a "man with no name" character even if a similar "historical person" does exist in the campaign world. ( Matt Dillon turned down an offer of a US Marshal's badge to become the sheriff of a small quiet town - Dodge City, Kansas.) Paul Newman will make several critically acclaimed and profitable movies about Sam Slade] Character types allowed:Any that which would fit in an western action-adventure film or pulp novel. [´special' characters need GM permission and secret planning Heh Heh Heh.] Currently a number of characters are working for the US Marshals Service or for Sam Slade protecting the American Way of Life'. Back to the Top / Back to the Vortex / Main page Visiting Boot HillWhen we started playing our old west game campaign we used the Boot Hill ® 2nd edition boxed set rules from TSR (one of our players used to game with Brian Blume, so we had to *g*). The first play session involved one player spending 45 minutes to create his character ... one who died within 1.5 minutes when he had a shootout in the street with someone just a little faster than he. (he didn't play again for 5 years) The other volunteer(*g*)(he gave me his old boxed set so I would run), created a character who had a shootout (different fight) and was severely wounded. When that cowboy woke up he found himself in a bed with a woman going through his clothes (placed on a nearby table); acting quickly he grabbed his 6-gun and shot her dead! The town hung him the next day for killing the sheriff's girlfriend who had been emptying his pockets so his clothes could be washed and repaired..... "OOOps still in D&D mode" said player2. Having killed off two characters in 10 minutes, the game then started in earnest. An important fact for players to learn...Player Characters Can Die! Even in a Republic Serial. Stupidity is not a good survival characteristic (not to be confused with profound and amazing Heroism which often looks the same *g*). Character generation methods for the different game systems used over the course of the campaign. Back to the Top / Back to the Vortex / Main page |
